Solution Use Cases

Telepresence Endpoint Emulation

Telepresence Endpoint Emulation - Cobham Wireless´ telepresence is a meeting place technology using a rich video, audio & data experience to improve collaboration.

Challenges Faced When Deploying Telepresence

Telepresence is a meeting place technology which uses a rich video, audio and data experience to improve collaboration between online meeting participants in geographically dispersed locations. The challenge faced is how to accurately measure performance and functionality without deploying expensive hardware or large numbers of soft clients to each site.

Evaluating a Network's Suitability for Telepresence

A key part of deploying Telepresence is the ability to accurately assess the performance of the underlining network to host collaborative meetings from a number of remote sites. TeraVM as a virtual solution is ideal for remote site deployment. By using a centralized controller, TeraVM can be pushed to remote sites and be operational within hours, providing key performance measurements covering signalling and media quality.

For telepresence TeraVM measures over 50 unique metrics. Below are a few example metrics:

  • QMVideo MOS
  • Buffer Overrun/Underrun
  • Endpoint Registration Success
  • QMAudio MOS
  • Call Time Ringing
  • SIP Control Message Rates
  • RTP Video Frame Jitter
  • Time to First Media Frame
  • RTCP Packet Rates

TeraVM Stateful Telepresence Endpoint Emulation

TeraVM is the only solution available which emulates a range of the leading vendors encoders and soft clients e.g. Cisco CTS series, Cisco Movi, Cisco Jabber, Tandberg E, EX, C series.

In addition to emulating the endpoints, TeraVM provides detailed performance analysis on the control signalling and the media, which includes analysis of each and every video and audio stream associated with the meeting.

TeraVM Is Used to Test Telepresence Meeting Functionality

TeraVM is used to join live or scheduled meetings, in which TeraVM impersonates the speaker enabling analysis of Telepresence voice detection functionality. Other meeting functionality which can be assessed using TeraVM includes call hold and call mute.
